Product Summary

This unit covers the sixth Sunday of Easter through Trinity Sunday in Lectionary Year B. It is designed to help students understand sacrificial love and the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

Lesson 1: Lay It Down--This lesson's theme is Chosen for the greatest love. Christ calls us first to receive God's love, and then to be full of His love, to give our lives in love for our brothers and sisters, and for the world. What does it mean to lay down my life for my brothers and sisters? How do you love like that in everyday life? (Acts 10:44-48; Psalm 98; 1 John 5:1-6; John 15:9-17)

Lesson 2: The Word and the World--This lesson's theme is In the world but not of the world. Jesus does not pray that we would be brought out of the world; instead He sends us out into the world. Understanding that the world is not safe, He prays for our protection. What does it mean to be sent out into the world but not be overcome by its evil? How can we be made pure by the teaching of the words of truth? (Acts 1:15-17, 21-26; Psalm 1; 1 John 5:9-13; John 17:6-19)

Lesson 3: Can These Bones Live?--This lesson's theme is The work of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has been sent to us to be our present Counselor, encourager, and comforter in the world. Have I received the present help that Jesus sent for us when He returned to heaven? What is the work of the Spirit in our daily lives? (Ezekiel 37:1-14; Psalm 104:24-34, 35b; Romans 8:22-27; John 15:26-27; 16:4b-15)

Lesson 4: Children of the King--This lesson's theme is Born Again to a New Life. God provides a way for us to be spiritually born again to a new life in Him. We are born of the Spirit of God and are made to be His children. What does it mean to be born again? (Isaiah 6:1-8; Psalm 29; Romans 8:12-17; John 3:1-17)
