Product Summary

This four-week series is based on the movie I Am Sam. The film is about Sam Dawson, a mentally challenged father who is doing his best to raise his daughter, Lucy. When Sam is declared an unfit parent, Lucy is taken away from him and placed in a foster home. As Sam fights to get Lucy back, he begins to realize that he needs others and that others need him. Sam's journey is full of joy, isolation, tragedy, anger, fear, and love-polar emotions all lived out with his daughter and friends.

Lesson 1: Children of God--At the lowest points of our lives, when we feel rejected, afraid, and alone, we can stand firm in God's love, taking comfort in the knowledge that we are his children, precious, beloved, and valuable. (Isaiah 43:2-4 and 1 John 3:1)

Lesson 2: All You Need Is Love--As Christians, our first priority should always be love. Without the motivating factor of love, all of our other abilities and actions mean nothing. (1 Corinthians 13:1-3)

Lesson 3: True Friends--God calls us all to be in relationships in which we can strengthen one another. (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12)

Lesson 4: Fear--The force of fear and doubt in a believer's life can often be paralyzing. Like Peter, we so often give our fears to God, but then as we become focused on ourselves and the situation we're facing, we take them back. (Matthew 14:25-33)
