Lectionary Year C, Unit 09: Proper 10-13
This unit covers Proper 10 through Proper 13 in Lectionary Year C. It is designed to help students understand 1) the marks of a well-rounded and fruitful Christian; 2) that Christ is the perfect image of God; 3) our identity in Christ: faithfully expanding God's kingdom; and 4) our identity in Christ: remade in God's image.
Lesson 1: The Godly Plumbline-Our capacity to do good works increases as our knowledge of God grows and God's power works through us. (Amos 7:7-17; Psalm 82; Colossians 1:1-14; Luke 10:25-37)
Lesson 2: No Distractions- Jesus possesses and accurately reflects all the divine qualities of God. (Amos 8:1-12; Psalm 52; Colossians 1:15-28; Luke 10:38-42)
Lesson 3: Lifestyle Discipleship- Christians have access to the full life-giving power of Christ, empowering them to faithfully proclaim God's love and forgiveness. (Hosea 1:2-10; Psalm 85; Colossians 2:6-15, (16-19); Luke 11:1-13)
Lesson 4: I Resemble - Christ's life-giving power is able to re-create humans into their original, God's-image-bearing condition. (Hosea 11:1-11; Psalm 107:1-9, 43; Colossians 3:1-11; Luke 12:13-21)
