Lectionary Year B (2005-06) Unit 6: Easter Sunday--Easter 4
This unit covers Easter Sunday and the following three Sundays in Lectionary Year B. It is designed to help students understand the resurrection of Christ and the possibility of a sinless life.
Lesson 1: I Believe!-This lesson's theme is Jesus Christ is alive. All Christian hope is based on this one truth: Jesus is alive! Jesus Christ died for our sins and rose again from the dead. What difference does my belief that Jesus is alive make in my day-to-day life? (Acts 10:34-43; Psalm 118:1-2,14-24; 1 Corinthians 15:1-11; Mark 16:1-8)
Lesson 2: See the Scars-This lesson's theme is Believing in the Resurrection. The Resurrected Jesus appeared to the disciples to show them that He had risen from the dead. Even in Thomas' doubts, Jesus offered him evidence for believing in the resurrection. Do we know the evidence of the resurrection? Have we drawn close enough to Jesus to see His scars and believe? (Acts 4:32-35; Psalm 133; 1 John 1:1-2:2; John 20:19-31)
Lesson 3: Free From Sin-This lesson's theme is Repentance and life without sin. God calls us to turn from our sinful ways and live for Him. Jesus has the power to take away our sin, and give us new life, a life of repentance and obedience. What does it mean to live in God's love, and live without sin? How can I live without sin? (Acts 3:12-19; Psalm 4; 1 John 3:1-7; Luke 24:36b-48)
Lesson 4: All About Love-This lesson's theme is Resurrection Love in Action. The love of Jesus is our model for love in the world-He gave everything for us. Have we gotten into the habit of only talking about love and not loving in action? What does it mean to love in action and in truth? (Acts 4:5-12; Psalm 23; 1 John 3:16-24; John 10:11-18)
