Radical Truth from Ancient Prophets
This four-lesson unit of study helps teens gain new insight into the truths proclaimed by the Old Testament prophets. By focusing on a few of the Old Testament prophets, this unit will help teens understand that 1) God wants our actions to reflect His priorities; 2) God pursues justice and commands His people to do the same; 3) We are called to show God's love to everyone-regardless of race, creed, economic stats, or origin of birth; and 4) God's love for us is never-ending, and He pursues us with His love and forgiveness, even when we are unfaithful to Him.
Lesson 1: First Things First--God wants our actions to reflect His priorities. When we put Him first in our lives, He will supply all our other needs. (Haggai 1; Matthew 6:33)
Lesson 2: Do the Just Thing--God pursues justice and commands His people to do the same. Use this lesson to stretch your students beyond a simple focus on themselves, and help them to understand that biblical justice primarily focuses on the needs of others. (Amos 2:6-7a; 5:21-24; 8:4-7; James 1:27)
Lesson 3: God Doesn't Play Favorites--We are called to show God's love to everyone-regardless of race, creed, economic status, or origin of birth. In Christ, all men and women are created equal; prejudice has no role in the life of a Christian. (Jonah 1:1-3; 3:1-5, 10; 4:1-11; James 2:4-4, 12-13)
Lesson 4: Long-Term Love--God is loving and faithful; even when we are not, He pursues us with His love and forgiveness. (Hosea 1; 3; 5; 8; 12-14; Psalm 147:8-11; Romans 5:8; 1 Corinthians 13:4-8)
