Product Summary

As you facilitate this week, let me encourage you not to think of it as coordinating a play, but as simply telling THE STORY of Christ. You'll tell it in a number of ways at different times with different voices (and sometimes with no voice at all). We believe as you tell this story, God will help students find themselves in it. God will work through them and you to bring redemption and transformation.

Here are the main points we're going to focus on this week:

  • Water, which represents the cleansing and life-giving grace of God through Jesus Christ.
  • Fire, which represents the refining work of the Father.
  • Wind, which represents the movement of God's Spirit in this world through His people.
This camp is for you and the students. Take and adjust it, tweak it, do what you need to do to make it the best fit for you and your students. The main elements are:
  • Worship Gatherings, These are times of gathering everyone together for the purpose of telling the story through music, teaching, and interaction
  • Small Groups, These times will allow for some community building among each group as they get to know each other. They will also provide an opportunity to ask some questions and dig a bit deeper into THE STORY. They also allow for more specific prayer for students.
  • Daily Prayers, Before breakfast and before lights out, students have the opportunity to join in a time of corporate prayer and readings adapted from The Book of Common Prayer. These fixed times, traditionally called the daily offices, have been practiced by Christian faith communities for centuries. The morning and evening prayer times have been specially selected to focus the students on the experiences of the day.
In addition, this camp serves as a companion to the Barefoot Ministries book, Water Fire Wind. While it is not necessary that everyone read it for this camp, it would be a great follow up item.
