And indeed, Saskatchewan was verdant and lovely, a land to be prized. But it was also harsh. Even as it promised, it threatened. Worth and Abbie knew well that it would be a struggle to carve out this new existence in a territory where the summers were short and toilsome and the winters were long and lonely.
